let the sun shine in

TUESDAY JULY 14th, 2009
yesterday was my first official day at the new job. i think i'm gonna like it. i already like my co-workers and office, and i definitely like my five block commute. thanks to everyone who offered their encouragement and support while i was looking for work. much appreciated.

so after work yesterday i met aubrey at the here lounge on robertson for a "be-in" for equality now to promote october's marriage equality march on washington. talking up the event were activist cleve jones, oscar-winner dustin lance black and the broadway cast of this year's tony winner for best revival "hair". several people at the event drew parallels to the social issues addressed by the show's original production and the marriage equality issue today and it was announced that the show would be dark on the night of the march because the cast would instead be performing at the event in the capital.

i made my first video at the be-in and i really like the way it came out but it turns out the file is too large for this site. if you want to see the cast perform "let the sunshine in" click on the slideshow on the right and you can view the 53-second clip on my flickr account. or click on the facebook badge to see it on my facebook wall.
