last thursday robert and i popped into the mercado la palomo (across the street from the dmv next to the 110 by usc) for the trekking l.a. kickoff event hosted by good magazine. trekking l.a. is a series of tours of neighborhood (read "ethnic") street foods found around the city and this one featured son jarocho musicians and an art installation/workshop. robert and i had some delicious oaxacan food from the restaurant chichen itza before watching the musical performance. evidently we missed natalie portman who reportedly ate at chichen itza too. for more info on trekking l.a.'s next event visit http://www.trekkingla.org/
